By the way

My last post was titled jinx because I jinxed myself by saying everything was perfect in the post before.

Any way, I just thought I'd let you all know its snowing its beautiful. IT would be even more beautiful if it caused a snow day. Impossible, our district han't had a snow day since 2001. But it would be fun.

Jinx

Saturday:

Saturday was actually a fairly pleasant day. I slept in, and mostly just hung out around the house. I attempted to go shopping for shorts for Work Tour with my sister (she's a year and a half younger than me and also going on the trip). I say "attempted" because few store have pulled out all of their shorts, and the few that are out are WAY to expensive. I ended up getting a pair of jeans at Kohl's for $12 that I can wear now and cut into shorts later, which was nice. I can never find pants (or shorts) to fit.

Around 6ish I went to my friend Sherry's house. Her family was having a game night with a bunch of old family friends, and the only other girl that was coming was in 5th grade. It was actually a lot of fun. We watched an insense game of curling -our school needs a girls' curling team, it would be epic- US vs. Great Britain. They had to go into an 11th END to settle a tie. It was very exciting (for those that haven't figured it out, I'm being sarcastic about the last few sentances, except for the school curling team). A large game of Left Right Center followed, in which I lost three dollars. Last, but certainly not least, was a game of Pictionary Junior. It was a lot more difficult than you might expect based off the title. Can you draw a buffalo? The one the arquitect drew looked like a cross between a hampster and a dead creature lying on its back. It was a fun night, everyone their was really nice and I didn't feel as awkward or left out as I had previously anticipated. It was actually nice, seeing as my family rarely sees the few close family friends we have. This is because we gave moved multiple times over the past 16 years (which I love, don't get me wrong-I can't stand staying in the same place too long- but it makes it difficult to maintain relations when you live so far apart). Sorry if this is getting too sappy. Actually, if it bothers you, you could just stop reading.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. (Cliche and overly dramatic, right? I find it endlessly ammusing to apply such statements to my life which is neither cliche or dramatic)

Today (Sunday) started off perfectly fine. I woke up early and taught Sunday School at my church. I'm teaching it to earn volunteer hours for my Child Development class, but I'm going to continue even after I earn the hours. I work in the 3's and 4's room, which is always amusing.  The kids are hilarious. We'll be teaching the lesson and someone will raise their hand and say something totally random like "my fish died" or today's "I had a cough last eek and it wouldn't go away, I had it for-for a-um-a hundred days!" I love how little the kids care what they say or do- they're always so spontaneous.

After I came home, a played Sims with my sisters and one of them attempted to try the VT recipie for vegan raw chocolate pudding. It turned out interestingly enough... Maybe it had something to do with using an old blender instead of a food processor? I don't know, but I'm not sure we are going to try the recipie again very soon.

More recently I went to see our school's production of Ragtime with my friend Kaylee. We ran into my other friend Tierney while their. It was a really well done play. I was impressed. The one thing that I would have changed? Stick to the normal gun sound effects, NOT the machine gun ones - machine guns hadn't been invented yet, and it sounded ridiculous.

I came home at 6, and the drama started. My mom was freaking out because my sister told my mom I had been at Sherry's house, even though I had told her I'd be at the play and I wasn't answering my phone (it was turned off during the play), so she called Sherry's house and I wasn't there (duh!). Apparently (according to my mom, who tends to exaggerate), my dad was convinced I'd been car-jacked. I quickly dispelled any yelling from my mom by pointing out that I had texted her at the begining of the play, during intermission and at the end. Unfortunately she didn't know where her cell  phone was. Therefore, she couldn't get mad at me because everything could have been prevented hed she not lost her phone.

To add to everything, my parents are angry with each other. The source of the problem, as per usual, is my grandmother on my father's side, Grandma Julie. She is a terror. Next weekend, she is coming out and expects to see us on Sunday. You know what? I'm tired and have to memorize a bunch of trig stuff. I'm going to finish this complaint later.

Opposites.

I find it very amusing that I created this blog to complain on, yet most everything has been great lately. Funny how life works out.

Wednesday at school was AMAZING!!! The power went out third period. The rumor (started by a math teacher) was that in 5 more minutes, we would have gone home. The buses were coming, but we would have had to wait a lot longer before we could leave. Oh, and we had an epic volleyball battle for third place. My team won! It was SO cool.

Thursday...mostly uneventful. Volunteering and babysitting. Babysitting was great, until bed time... No one would go to sleep!

Friday (today) was awesome. School was fine. We had an asembly about African American Heritage. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz. No offense to African Americans, but the assembly insulted a bunch of other people as well. It ignored/insulted a bunch of other races, like a bunch of my Indian friends. It also irritated me, because I hate being grouped into "white". So many countries are deemed "white", and thats usually what people identify with. I say "I'm mostly German and Polish" (I realize that my heritage seems kind of ironic), not "I'm white". But whatever, I don't feel like typing more, Math was hilarious, as per usual. Its amazing how many people actually carry their unit circle plates in their pockets. Wow. P.E. was bizarre. Two cockroaches were srawling around the girls locker room, so we were all flipping out and balancing on the benches until a security guard came and killed them. The security then followed our class to torture all the girls about being freaked out. As we went up to the upper gym, the boys were trying to squirt each other with the hand sanitizer at the top of the stairs. One of them actually got hit, and the security guard saw it and started freaking out : "That is disgusting! How dare you spit on each other?!". She didn't hear the rest of us trying not to laugh at the top of the stairs. Later, a girl blacked out during the pushup test.

Tonight wa the best part of today though. 3 friends and I watched old Disney movies. We watched the Little Mermaid, because my one friend had never seen it before which is CRAZY. We were going to watch Cinderella and Snow Whit a well, but a) we didn't have enough time and b) I couldn't figure out how to hook up the VCR (they were VHS!). Oh, the good old days...

Mardi Gras

Today was overall a pretty nice day.

I actually got to school at a decent time, so I had time to study for the Spanish vocab quiz and therefore got over 100% (hopefully it makes up for my homework grade- Spanish is EASY, but I hate the busywork).

IPC (interpersonal communicatons) we watched a video about Nonverbals. I'm pretty sure half of its BS, but its better than more speeches.

Child Development, we watched a cheesy video from the 80's about pregnancy.

Geo/ Trig? We started Trig. The best part? We were learning about the Unit Circle, and used York patties as the circle for the demonstraton. Yum!

Lunch was actually interesting, for once. I sat with a dfferent group of people, who are less of doormats.

PE was volleyball, and my team actually played decently (there is a reason I don't play sports).

Orchestra: my cello was insanely out of tune, and had a broken A string. So I spent over half an hour tuning, and only had to play for 15ish mnutes. I love cello, but our music...ugh.

CAD was CAD: always amazing.

I had Steel Drums, which was average. And no homework. I also started to read through the mountain of emails/letters from colleges (It's literally a mountian: I have over 80 emails to look through).

I don't know why I wrote so much. Maybe because it was actually a decent day, and I don't want this blog to be all negatives.

FYI- this was posted on Tuesday, despite the date saying Wednesday.

Monday

Update on last night:

I did go to Date Night (thanks Kristie!). It was actually a lot of fun, despite the fact that there were 16 girls and only 4 guys other than the 3 guys running it. My "date" was a friend (sort-of, I'll talk about that another time...). We were all split up into three groups and rotated to the different stations. I was in group 1. We went to the "Do's and Don'ts of Dating Station" run by Curt at which we made a list of (*gasp*) the do's and don'ts of dating-shocking, right? I know this all sounds extremely juvinile/boring, but it was one of those things where you had to be there to understand. Then we went to the Dancing Station run by KK. After some advice (provided by le Internet), and a demonstration by KK and Aidan (both guys, so funny...) we proceeded to do the Fox Trot, albeit very poorly.  It was slightly (read: incredibly) awkward, as most of us were paired with the same gender. I of course had to be the "guy" because my friend is too insecure. Baisically, no one danced very long- except for Hope. Hope is definitley a character... you really can't describe her- she's entirely unique, but not in an awkward loser type way (if this isn't making sense, or is sounding insulting, I apologize-but as I said, its imposible to describe Hope). So she kept dancing, which was hilarious. After that, we went to the final station. It was a play off some game show (I think it was called Dateline or something...) run by Cooper. Quick explanation: one guy sat in the front, with his back facing us. All of the girls sat in a row of chairs behind him, numbered (ex. I was Girl #8). Cooper asked a question, and the girls went down the row answering it. At the end, the guy had to choose the girl he was going to "date".  So, Jazz was the guy and Aidan had to be a "girl" since we had two guys in our group  - very amusing. The questions were generic ones like "What would your perfect date be?" or random ones like "What is your typical order at McDonald's?" or "If you were trapped on a desert island with your boyfriend, would you eat him or let him eat you?" (fyi, I believe I would solve such an issue by a. fishing or b. walking into the ocean to drown together). After this, we all went back to the youth room for info about next weeks meeting and Work Tour payments and then left. Date Night was not what I expected, but it was definitely fun.

As for today?

No school for President's Day! Thank goodness. I can't wait for this year to be over.

Speaking of which, I officially have a summer job! I'll be working at a diner/ice cream parlor in northern Wisconsin, which will be amazing.

Anyways, today I slept until noon and then went to Sheila's around one. We watched Batman Begins, which I had never seen. It was very epic. Unfortunately, we had to skip through parts of it so we could see the end before I had to leave.

From four to six I went to volunteer, as per usual (Note: I volunteer at a Resale Shop twice every week on Mondays and Thursdays). It was very uneventful. I sat and read Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey. It was recommended by someone I met on Mystery Google. I'm not sure if it's really worth reading, but I'm going to finish it anyway.

Oh, and its snowing again. Not much, just enough to look like silver glitter floating against the dark sky..ugh that sounded horribly poetic, but thats what is looks like, and I love it.

Currently? I'm posting this (hahaha... I know thats not funny, I hate when people say stuff like that). Really? I'm on conjuguemos.com studying for a spanish vocab quiz. I love spanish, but we need to learn practical vocab. NOT los guineitos en escabeche (small green bananas in garlic vinegar, red pepper and oil) or pilotar un avioneta (to fly a single-engine plane). Whatever...

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh, the Hallmark holiday used to promote materialism and openly despised among the single. Or, more often, used by the single to be all "woe is me" and waste your time. Get over it all ready.

Tonight is Date Night at our high school church youth group. No idea what that entails: the only description was "dress to impress". I'm still on the fence about whether or not to go, let alone what to wear...
